SYDNEY — 9 May 2019 — GQG Partners LLC (GQG Partners) is pleased to announce its two managed funds, GQG Partners Global Equity Fund and GQG Partners Emerging Markets Equity Fund, have been rated ‘Recommended’ by Lonsec Research.

Lonsec based its rating for both GQG Partners funds on these perceived strengths:

  • Strategy is led by a highly capable portfolio manager with a track record of building successful investment businesses;
  • Experienced equity research team;
  • Underlying investment philosophy and process which has a track record of success;
  • Attractively priced given the portfolio manager’s pedigree.

A ‘Recommended’ rating indicates that Lonsec has strong conviction the funds can generate risk adjusted returns in line with relevant objectives and are considered an appropriate entry point to their respective asset classes or strategies. The investment objective of both the GQG Partners Global Equity Fund and GQG Partners Emerging Markets Equity Fund is to provide a rate of return (after fees and expenses and before taxes) which exceeds the return of their respective benchmark.

This is Lonsec’s first review of both funds.

Rajiv Jain, GQG Partners’ co-founder and Chairman & Chief Investment Officer writes:

“I’m delighted to be recognised by Lonsec for my long track record of global investing experience in seeking quality companies selling at reasonable prices, the experience of our varied research mosaic, the endurance and adaptability of our core investment philosophy, and our fair and reasonable fees. Australian and New Zealand institutional investors have been early and strong supporters of GQG Partners, and I look forward to many years of growing our Australasian presence through these managed funds and our Sydney office.”

Laird Abernethy, GQG Partners’ Managing Director of Australia & New Zealand writes:

“I cannot underscore enough the significance of Lonsec’s ‘Recommended’ ratings for our managed funds as we build out our Australasian business. Since joining GQG Partners, I have been inspired by the firm’s focus on client alignment, experienced and diversified investment team, and differentiated investment philosophy and approach that has both endured and adapted over time in this crowded marketplace.”

GQG Partners is a Florida-based boutique equities manager focused on global and emerging markets equities strategies. Mr Jain co-founded the firm in June 2016 after leaving his long tenure at Vontobel Asset Management as CIO and co-CEO. Since then, GQG Partners has grown to manage more than A$30 billion of discretionary and advisory assets worldwide (as at 31 March 2019), with more than A$3 billion of that representing 30 institutional investors in Australasia. The firm has furthered its commitment to Australasia recently with the establishment of a wholly owned subsidiary in Australia, GQG Partners (Australia) Pty Ltd ABN 85 626 132 572; the registration of its first office outside the United States in Sydney; and the appointment of a local managing director, Laird Abernethy, who is tasked with the further build-out of the Australasian team.

GQG Partners relies upon a team of traditional and non-traditional analysts — who possess backgrounds in fields such as investigative journalism and specialised accounting — to challenge the short-term projections and backward-looking dogma that often dominates market discourse. The firm strives for excellence at all levels of the organisation through a commitment to in-depth knowledge of the markets as well as independent thinking, continual growth, and giving back to investors and its global communities.
