We are looking for an experienced global trader to join our team. This position is an ideal entry point to GQG as the fourth seat on our trading desk and will be located in our New York City office. This dynamic team member’s responsibilities will range from the day-to-day activity of executing trades around the globe to participating/leading strategic initiatives as we continue to grow our organization.

Trading, Execution, Broker & Commission Management (80%)

  • Model trades on OMS
  • Execute trades approved by PM focused on best execution
  • Collaborate with Compliance to test compliance guidelines and restrictions and managing trading function within the rules
  • Maintain current understanding of MFID II, how it applies to GQG and maintain procedures to comply
  • Manage trading related vendors as assigned (example: Bloomberg, OMS)
  • Collaborate with other Trader(s):
    • Best execution around the globe
    • Seamless coverage of global as backup for all markets
    • Commission management strategy and implementation
    • Onboarding of new brokers
      • Prepare analysis for approval by Investment Committee
      • Collaborate with counsel to complete account establishment
      • Ensure system readiness prior to trading
      • Communicate status to CIO and analysts
    • Implementation and management of TCA program
      • Utilize results to reduce implementation shortfall
      • Present reports and analysis to Investment Committee
    • Broker Management
      • Primary relationship management of brokers
      • Secondary relationship management of others
      • Manage failed trades due to broker shorts and errors
      • Collaborate with legal and clients to add Pnote capabilities for markets with long lead times to establish
    • Trade Analysis and Communication
      • Prepare Liquidity Analysis for PM, analyst, clients and boards as needed
      • Draft responses to RFPs and DD questionnaires
      • Participate in DD meetings
      • Measure execution costs – explicit and implicit for clients and funds as needed

Market Insight (20%)

  • Prepare daily market insights for CIO and analysts
  • Maintain current market knowledge on GQG’s core names


  • Trading experience
    • 10+ years trading equity securities through all venues – including securities with limited volume in a long only asset manager
    • 5+ years trading international / emerging markets securities in a long only asset manager
  • Bachelor degree or equivalent years of experience
  • Expert in the nuances of Global Markets
  • Deep knowledge of market structure
  • Proven success in establishing a TCA program, interpreting analysis, recommending adjustments to Portfolio Manager(s) and explaining results to clients
  • Excellent reputation with the street and management of broker relationships
  • Strong negotiating skills – broker commissions
  • Calm under pressure
  • Detail oriented, accurate, timely, responsive
  • High level of confidentiality and discretion is required
  • Exceptional organizational skills
  • Polished and professional demeanor and appearance in all situations
  • Strong communication skills – written and verbal
  • Ability to negotiate and navigate service with vendor
  • Ability to influence without having authority
  • Experience considered a plus
    • Eze OMS
    • Implementing a new OMS
    • Implementing EMS
    • Implementing TCA
    • 3+ years managing a trading team
